Chen Wenjin from Department of Information and Technology Awarded “2019 Self-improvement Star of College Students” Scholarship

A Grade-2018 student, Chen Wenjin, from Department of Information and Technology, has been awarded a national-level scholarship. Recommended by Concord University College, he has been named “2019 Self-improvement Star of College Students”.

Themed with “Youth, Perseverance, Courage and Strength, this scholarship campaign is jointly carried out by China Youth Daily and New Oriental Education and Technology Group under the guidance of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the China University Association. A total of 2090 college students from across the nation were awarded the captioned scholarship while ten were selectedto be “2019 Self-improvement Modal Star of College Students”.

Chen is an active volunteer and a keen student. During the pandemic in 2019, he recruited a group of college-student volunteers in his hometown, a village of Nan’an County, Quanzhou City, to spread knowledge on epidemic control and prevention with self-made video-clips, pamphlets, slogans and radio-broadcasting. Later, he participated in the production of a video advocating for the use of serving chopsticks—— this promotional vedio has been reported by various media such as Learning Power app, wenming.cn, and Fujian TV Comprehensive Channel. After he returned to the campus, he was awarded National Encouragement Scholarship, Second-class Scholarship for Outstanding Students of CUC and entitled Academically Excellent Students of DIT for his continuous excellent performances both ethically and academically.
