On the morning ofNovember 8, the 8th CUC Sports Festival and the 11th Athletics Games kicked offat the East-district Track and Field Stadium in Qishan Campus of Fujian NormalUniversity. Administrators including Zhang Huarong, Huang Junxing, ChenXiaobin, Wang Zhigui, Wang Jin'an, Zhang Pengcheng, and heads of offices anddepartments attended the opening ceremony presided over by Chen Xiaobin, DeputySecretary of the CUC Party Committee.

At the opening ceremony,the flag team, the referee team, the faculty team, and the matrixes of studentsfrom various departments marched into the stadium, presenting marvelous performancessuch as dancing, martial arts, dragon dance and sitcom, showing thecharacteristics of each department. At the end of each performance, eachdepartment expressed their blessings for the 15th anniversary of CUC by liningup in the shape of 'XH15' (XH is short for Xiehe---- the pinyin nameof Concord) an “XH15” shape, shouting slogans, and displaying banners.

After the flag-raisingceremony, President Zhang Huarong delivered an opening speech and expressedgratitude to the students who had won glory for CUC in the 16th ProvincialGames for University Students. The athlete representative Zheng Menghang andthe referee representative Liang Sen also gave a speech.

The games will last fortwo and a half days during which male student team, female student team andfaculty team will take part in various competitions. A total of 7 units fromsix departments of CUC and the International Education College will competefiercely on 34 individual competitions and 6 group competitions.
