Dr. Fang Zhiwei from University of Science Malaysia Visits CUC for Exchanges on Financial Research
11 01, 2018At 15:00 p.m. on October31, CUC conducted a seminar on financial research in the sixth conference room.Participants include Dr. Fang Zhiwei, Associate Dean of the School ofManagement at the University of Science Malaysia, Lin Zhongyan, Director of Officeof Academic Research in Minjiang University, CUC administrators including ZhangHuarong, Huang Junxing, Wang Jin'an, heads of relevant departments, teachersand students.
At the seminar,President Zhang Huarong introduced Dr. Fang Zhiwei to the audience and expresseda warm welcome for his presence at CUC. President Zhang Huarong expressed hisgreat expectation for the spiritual feast of this academic seminar on financialresearch.
In this seminar, themed“Evolution of Financial Research”, Dr. Fang introduced the internationallypopular core journals, research paths and methods of finance and importanteconomists 1981 to 2017 with accurate data, together with a detailedintroduction and interpretation of the history of financial research over thepast 50 years, the definition of the scope of contemporary financial research,and the direction of financial research in the next five years. Dr. Fang alsointeracted with teachers and students on the financial academic issues based onhis own research methods and experience in the field of financial research.
At the end, PresidentZhang Huarong summarized today’s seminar with an old say “if we adopt the bestmethod, we would get a fairish result; if we adopt a medium method, we wouldget a poor result'. He said that in the future, CUC should strive to createa good atmosphere for teaching and research. Whether it is to teach or study,we must broaden our horizons and set high standards so as to achieve the desiredgoals.
Dr. Fang Zhiwei servesas the Associate Dean of the School of Management at the University of Science,Malaysia, in charge of research, undergraduate programs and outreach affairs.He is an associate professor of finance, and obtained his PhD degree from theDepartment of International Finance at the University of Malaya (UM), and hismaster degree from the Department of Financial Economics at the UniversityPutra Malaysia (UPM). Currently, he is a member of the American FinanceAssociation, the Malaysian Finance Association, the Malaysian EconomicAssociation, and the Asian Management Academic Association. His research coversinternational finance, financial economics and corporate finance. With a14-year tenure of teaching, he has taught courses of securities investment andportfolio management, international finance, public finance, financialderivatives, monetary economics, international corporate finance, businessstatistics and financial econometrics. He has won 17 international awards, 11domestic awards and 5 intra-school awards. He has published 14 ISI papers, 68Scopus papers, 33 reviews, and 5 textbooks. His works have been cited for 384times by other authors with an h index of 10. Eleven of his works have beencited for more than 10 times each.
