On September 29, CUCheld a workshop on administration capacity improvement. Administrators ZhangHuarong, Huang Junxing, Chen Xiaobin, Wang Jin'an and heads of various sectorsattended the workshop, presided over by President Zhang Huarong.

Deputy President WangJin’an made a special report on teaching. He reviewed the achievements made inteaching in recent years, analyzed the shortcomings and problems existing inthe current teaching, and proposed improvement measures. He said that CUCshould stick to the correct direction of school running, strengthen disciplineconstruction, promote innovation in training models, open up cooperation ininternational education, and accelerate the cultivation of teaching capacitywith distinct features.

President Zhang Huaronggave a keynote speech titled Thoughts on Improving the Governance Capacity ofCUC. Explaining in detail the new situation that CUC faces, he said CUC shouldseize opportunities for development by (i) grasping the overall situation andstrengthening planning to promote inheritance and innovation, (ii) meeting thebenchmarks and solving the key problems to enhance strength of education and(iii) staying true to the mission and innovating the mechanism to effectivelyimprove governance level. He proposed that CUC should keep improving thegovernance conditions, strengthen the construction of teaching staff anddisciplines, stay true to the mission of talent training, promote the innovationof institutional mechanisms, and continuously improve the governance quality.President Zhang emphasized that CUC was currently in a critical period for anew round of construction and development. All members of the college shouldfurther strengthen responsibility, pay close attention to work implementation,concentrate on construction, work together to promote development, and jointlypromote the advance of school running by leaps and bounds.

Based on the current andfuture work tasks of CUC, the Deputy Secretary of the CUC Party Committee HuangJunxing put forward three requirements: first, to focus on fundamental ideologyconstruction and have a deep understanding of The Thought on Socialism with  soas to cultivate talents for the great revitalization of the Chinese nation;second, to build up a strong teaching force by providing ideological andpolitical education to both newcomers and senior teachers; third, to adopt simulativepolicies, address problems in a timely manner, fill up the gaps, carry outeconomical operation and optimize resources.

At the meeting, theparticipants also discussed the amendment of a series of rules and regulations relatedto teaching, academic research, human resources, and assets management.
